The staff entering were great. We made a mistake in getting a site near the restroom, H217, and the lights were obnoxiously bright into our site. I would not recommend this site for a tent or camper without light blocking windows. The restroom could have dimmed the lights outfacing after certain hours. The restrooms and facilities were very clean and the showers were nice if you are willing to pay. The restroom could have more counter space for toiletry things such as brushing hair and teeth in the morning as it was hard to maneuver with the one sink and little counter space.
Individual campers continued to use the restrooms for rinsing their dishes but that was not the facilities fault.
We have definitely stayed in rougher and less clean facilities!

We had a wonderful trip! The campground is clean and the sites are very nice. Ours was ringed with shrubs which added a bit of seclusion. The restrooms are all placed. It would be nice if each one had a utility sink, but the walk wasn't bad. The showers were clean, although $5 for 10 minutes was a bit steep. I need less than half that time to get clean, so maybe the option for half the time, half the price? Saves on water, too. Katie ran the camp store; she's great and was super helpful!
Lewis falls is by the amphitheater, a worthy hike and an amazing view. Also, Rose River falls is fairly close. By far my favorite hike in Shenandoah so far. Can't wait to go back!

Overall great campground - we had lots of fun staying at Big Meadows! This site is right next to the bathroom, so if tent camping, the light from the bathroom was a bit bright.

Beautiful campground with large sites and clean bathrooms. Great access to hiking trails.
The one thing we did not realize was the length of time it would take to drive out of the park since Big Meadows is in the middle and it is miles away from an exit.

Great small camping site perfect for one individual or a couple. An hour away from Old Rag.

Enjoyed our stay at Big Meadows. It is a good central point in the National Park. We enjoyed lots of deer around the campground entrance in the mornings and evenings. Bathroom facilities were also nice and clean. We did not use the shower facilities, so I can't comment on those. Close proximity to the Visitors Center and store. The only downside was finding potable water as a lot of the spigots were not turned on yet for the season. We were able to find one working spigot in another loop of the campground.
I would stay here again.
