What Guests Are Saying
Ausable River Camping offers a beautiful and serene environment, with spacious, well-maintained sites and picturesque views of the river. Campers appreciate the remote, rustic charm and the opportunities for fishing and hiking. While there are some concerns regarding ticks, road conditions, noise from generators, and occasional issues with campsite bookings, many visitors still express a strong desire to return for another experience in nature.

Not detailed directions and the sight did not link with what the webpage said. Then we get lost but they close at 5pm. Really? So middle of no where rustic camping and no way to contact office. And than to top it off I lost out 30$ for my sight because they couldn't refund me from their own system? So I have to contact a website that takes 40 mins to wait on hold. So all in all it is not worth it to wait hours on hold for 20$ but that money was just taken and goes in their pocket and I didn't even get to enjoy camping. Instead got lost and had to find a different camp site. My Friday was ruined I had to pay for another campsite so I spent 70$ for 2 nights of camping because you guys just took 30$ and have no proper directions to the site. WILL NEVER GO THROUGH THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!!!

My second time here. Beautiful campsite and area in general. The Au Sable primitive campsites are ideal for those like me that want to be distant from other campers and enjoy some peace and serenity. I'm glad not to have cell phone service out here. One of the many reasons I choose these campsites. About a 5th of a mile walk in from Cooke Dam Road.

Walk and park is easier if you bring wagons to go back n forth to this spot. Exactly a 1/4 mile hike in. Beautiful day and evening views.

Great spot, right on top of the water. Steep climb down to the pond though.

I really like the spots close to whirlpool launch access. Nice wadeable sections, beautiful early morning fly fishing

Most beautiful campsite ever! Room for our 17 ft. teardrop and then some. Wonderful view, quiet and secluded.

Amazing campsite right in the reservoir. The highbanks trail runs from iargo springs right into logger mans camping sites where we stayed. Absolutely beautiful.
If you plan to camp with a generator please do not run it all night. It disturbs the whole campground and intrudes on the natural ambiance. Thank you!

We stayed at one of the “boat in” only sites on the Foote dam side. It was up off the water and set up great for tent camping with plenty of shade. Very relaxing and fun trip. It was a long boat ride back to the site so you won’t be making too many trips back to town once you arrive. Bring everything you need. Would definitely do this trip again.
