Campground is our first choice "go to" for get aways from Albuquerque. Glad to know now that camp sites on Loop 4 are designated "no generators". certainly keeps the noise down. There is plenty to do. Just walking or biking around the campground is a pleasure, and campers are the friendliest people (at least while they are camping!). There is hiking, both easy and not as easy. Fishing the streams. Take a hike down in the canyon to Jemez Falls. All this without getting in your vehicle! In addition, nearby rock climbing, more hikes. Visit Bandelier National Monument, and you and the kids can climb up ladders to cliff dwellings. Take a day trip to Valles Caldera National Preserve; drive down the gravel road entrance to the visitors center for the array of activities there. Mountain biking at Valles Caldera! None better! Both single track steeps, and gentle, wide (unpaved) fire roads. If there is a van tour available at VCNP TAKE IT! If you don't see herds of elk then you need to look out the window!
The campsites at Jemez Falls Campground are mostly excellent. Normally there is good spacing between campsites. You will have privacy and (relative) quiet. This trip I was late making a reservation, but I was glad to find a site in Loop 4 (no generators) for 3 nights. However, that site, #45, is next to the toilets on Loop #4, and too frequently a breeze brought pit toilet smells to my attention (ahem!) Generally the pit toilets are in excellent shape and well maintained, and the ventilation stack designs have improved. Still, I normally prefer not to camp adjacent to the bathrooms, and I hope for better choice next time.
I have concerns about the high number of "no shows" under the reservation system. I guess with the fees so low, and refunds so easy, campers have little $ to lose by cancelling or not showing up. Maybe R.gov would consider a refundable deposit, or putting "no show" campers on probation?

Very nice and quiet. Well spaced campsites. Met some other nice campers, too. You could hear the nearby highway, but not very much at all.

The campground was actually very beautiful and clean! The only bad side was some extremely rude and loud campers that decided to set up camp behind us at 1am. Then decided to keep the entire campground up till 1 am every night we were up there with their loud and rude behavior. Really tainted the experience.

We had a great time. Bring bathers and hike west to the warm springs, with dome interceding rock formations to see sling the way.

We had to leave NM due to an emergency and transferred the reservations to our friend who was going to go with us. Her car broke down on the way up and she never got to camp and we were denied a refund. Heartless.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
