What Guests Are Saying
Lakeview Campground offers stunning views, well-maintained sites, and a private, quiet atmosphere, making it a favorite among visitors. Many appreciated the clean facilities and helpful camp host, Rick, who enhances the experience. While some sites may be smaller than advertised and noise from nearby roads and dispersed campers can be an issue, the overall beauty and accessibility to trails and nearby lakes make it a worthwhile destination.

Campground hosts were very welcoming and helpful. They helped make our stay one of the best we've experienced at a Forest Service campground.

We love this campground. The hosts are super nice and the amenities are always super clean and well maintained. Bonus is that we did a gorgeous 5 mile hike and were able to leave right from our site!
The ONLY downside is that this campground attracts some weird people sometimes. 2 out of the 4 times I’ve been here we have encountered uncomfortable things at night. First time was a guy yelling at people in our loop to “shut the f*** up” over and over even when people quieted down and were responding politely. Second time (summer 2022) my wife and I heard a full on domestic dispute. This went on from 1-3am. When we heard a woman screaming over and over at the top of her lungs we called Leadville police, packed up in the middle of the night with very little sleep and drove back to Denver. We did not feel safe to stay there in our tent.
So, this was our top camping spot and now I doubt we will go back :(. Too bad. I know it’s not the hosts fault at all so I don’t blame them but it’s the reason I can’t give this spot 5 stars. I won’t go back.
