Campground was very quiet and all facilities were well kept. If you needed anything from a store, Leadville was a short drive away. Lots of hike trails in the area.

Absolutely beautiful location. Turquoise Lake sits between large mountain peaks which were snow capped in early June. Wind was prevelent every day from 11:00-5:00; not too bad to enjoy the day but challenged our canoeing and fishing during that time period. If available reserve the lower numbered sites (1-27) but the higher numbered loop is fine except for our site #32. The site was recently remodelled facing the wrong direction to back into and with an elevated and very narrow footprint no wider than a single car driveway. The elevated site, built like a levy, creates a dangerous drop off of 4' on each side. When I lowered my stairs I was 18" from the edge - VERY DANGEROUS! Bike/hike trail along the lake towards the dam is easy and enjoyable however the other direction toward May Queen campground is more challenging. We rode our bikes, much to our regret, 5 miles through the most challenging course you can imagine falling multiple times; much advised to walk that direction unless you are looking for a serious trail bike challenge - it would be a fun adventurous walk along the lake with several creek crossings and waterfalls. Baby Doe is by far the best campsite at the lake.

We stayed 6/8/21, our site was 040. It was a decently shaded spot, many choices to hang our hammock. We did not get direct sunlight beating down in this spot. Our spot was next to the restrooms but it did not bother us, restrooms very clean. Were able to ride our bikes to Turquoise Lake. T-Mobile had 5G, ATT 4G. We never saw camp host but we didn’t seek them out. Were never plagued by any particular insect, which was nice. Overall we plan to return hopefully next year. We reserved the site in late January 2021, and by then most spots were reserved already.

The lake is absolutely beautiful! The views are breathtaking.
My husband and I camped in a tent and the majority of the other campers there had large campers with loud generators that kind of took away the quietness of camping. But overall it was an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend camping anywhere on Turquoise lake!

Utilities
- Water will not be available at the campground in 2026; please bring your own.
- There are no hookups available at this campground.
Vehicles & parking
- Each campsite reservation includes two vehicles; additional vehicles incur a fee of $11.00 per night.
- OHVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes are prohibited in the campground.
Site capacity
- A maximum of 8 people can occupy one campsite.
- Each site can accommodate a maximum of 2 tents or 1 RV and 2 tents.
Pets
- All dogs must be leashed at all times, including service and therapy dogs.
Safety & rules
- Generators cannot be operated after designated hours.
- The use of firearms and fireworks is prohibited.
- Caution is advised when traveling to this high elevation facility.
Wildlife & food storage
- Do not leave food unattended at your site; it should be locked inside your vehicle or RV to avoid attracting bears.
