Lodgepole Campground is located in the breathtaking Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. Lodgepole is perched on the banks of the scenic and lengthy Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, at an elevation of 6,700 ft. The inspiring Giant Forest Grove and the mighty General Sherman Tree - the world's largest tree in volume - are just two miles from the campground.

We were in site 70. It doesn’t have much shade but has a flat spot for the tent and we had another screen tent to set up over the picnic table. It’s at a fork in the road so not super private but the parking is right at the site so you don’t have to lug things far and we had 2 small kids so that is nice. One huge downfall was the lack of trees. No place for a hammock and while camping hammocks are my favorite. Another plus was we were very close to the bridge which is a short walk down to the water to swim. So easy to get the kids there and in and out. It was hot during the day 87 so swimming was great. Nights were cold, we could have used more blankets and actually bought one at the camp store. Overall this is my 2nd time at the campground and I like it there.

Campsite was very nice, spacious and plenty of shade. Direct river access and pleasant sounds in the evening.

Bathrooms are ATROCIOUS! 63 sites share 1 facility and both men's and women's side were filthy and looked liked they hadn't been maintained at all beyond refilling the TP (and the ladies was out of TP for 2 days) . This is a potential health hazard and I am shocked that the NPS can not provide at least a sanitary spot for over 100 people to take care of their daily needs.

The campground is perfect for trips within Sequoia N.P. The shuttle starts from here, there is a grocery store, and the visitor's center - everything pretty close. Our site was easy to navigate into with a 30ft RV and we had lots of space around. It was quiet and peaceful.
The restrooms were everything but nice and mostly clogged. Also only one sink for dishwashing.

All bathrooms were incredibly filthy. Seems no one cleans them. Campsites vary widely: some are breathtaking others are barren and dismal. Site occupancy of 6 persons is often ignored. The site that backed up to mine was filled with literally 18 noisy people. Really affected my experience.

This is a great site. Very close to the Tokopah Falls trail head. The river flows very close by and the sound is very soothing. The site gets less sun but you can move around to find shade. Water faucet is on the neighboring site.

The campsite was excellent and as described regarding the tent size that it would accommodate. The restrooms are dated and need to be cleaned more thoroughly. There was a camper that arrived very late at night and setup using power tools for an eternity.

General

  • If your campsite remains vacant for 24 hours after your arrival date it will be cancelled and made available on rec.gov. You will be charged for the first night's campsite fee and a $20 cancellation fee, all other fees after that will be refunded. Recreation.gov policies apply to all reservations, cancellations, refunds and date changes.  Call (559) 565-4404 if you will be arriving 24 hours after your arrival date so your site won't be cancelled. To leave a message call (559) 565-3714.Upon making a campground reservation: Site occupants agree to follow ALL campground rules. Failure to comply may result in a fine. You are responsible for your guests. 
  • Quiet Hours 10pm to 6am- Music, talking, and generators should not be audible beyond your immediate campsite. Unreasonable noise is prohibited any time of day.
  • Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki . Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Visitors with vehicles over 22 feet in total length hoping to visit the Giant Forest or camp at Lodgepole and Dorst Creek Campgrounds are advised to enter via the northern, Highway 180, entrance to these parks.
  • Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.  Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger.
  • A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets.
