I’ve been coming to this site since I was a kid (no in mid 20s) and it’s my families go to camping spot in Western Arkansas. We’ve already decided this will our sons annual birthday camping spot.
It’s perfect. It’s got tons of trees, and the lake. Most other locations you’ve got the trees and no water, or the water and barely any trees.
If you’re looking for a well-shaded, beautiful scenery, no cell-serviced spot, this is where you want to be.
The family that currently maintains the park are fantastic. They’re the sweetest and will do anything in their power to keep the campground safe and the campers happy. All that and teaching their children the value of hard work.
Side note: if you use propane lanterns that require mantels, pack extra. The Walmart in town and the concession don’t carry them. You’d have to go up the mountain to the visitor center to purchase. We learned that the hard way.

The grounds overall were beautiful. The campsite was nice as well with a great paved driveway, a nice fire pit, and a tent pad. The bathrooms nearest the camps do not have running water and are relatively dirty. The bath house bathrooms were also below expectations. Overall though, the experience was pleasant.

We enjoyed our experience at the quiet and heavily wooded campground, the host family was wonderful and made our stay very enjoyable.
