Nicely kept, clean camping sites. Stayed there this year in June so it was a little warm and there were a few more bugs to contend with (predominantly gnats). I was in a toy hauler and could have used the air conditioner but did not find that to be necessary. Campfires were not allowed when we were there but again that was a function of us staying there in June. I would recommend reserving a spot in July or August (which I have done before) to take advantage of the monsoon rains, assuming you don't mind an afternoon thunderstorm. That makes the days cooler and makes it possible to have a nice campfire. Williams is very close by and it's nice to have some city amenities available if need be. My wife broke her wrist the second to last day we were there and the urgent care in Williams was clean, efficient, friendly, and provided excellent care for my wife. The lake is also in close proximity to Bearizona, the deer farm, and the new mountain roller coaster located in Williams. The annual Williams car show happened to be going on the week we were there and is free to the public. We enjoyed strolling down Route 66 and looking at all the show cars. Flagstaff is reasonably close as well should you want to plan a trip there from the lake. We brought our UTV and rode some of the forest roads which are located about a mile north of the exit from Kaibab campgrounds on the East side of Highway 64. My wife and I caught a lot of crappie, bass, and the occasional trout at what I believe was the North end of the lake but I would suggest fishing down by the damn or boat dock if you prefer catching trout (we caught 9 one evening while fishing there).

Not only was the campground absolutely beautiful but the camp hosts were incredible!! They went above and beyond by helping us get the slide on our camper in and out, as it wasn’t working properly. So grateful!

Great outdoor experience for hiking and RV’ing. Close enough to civilization, Williams, to pick up those things you forgot. Peaceful.
