About Moses Creek Conservation Area Murats Point Hike-In SJRWMD
Hike-in / paddle-in campsite
The Murats Point tent-only campsite at Moses Creek Conservation Area overlooks Moses Creek from a beautiful bluff. This reservation-required hike-in primitive campsite may be reached on foot, by bicycle or, during high tide, by canoe or kayak.Reaching Murats Point is a 5.7-mile hike each way from either the West or East trailhead parking areas. No motorized vehicles are permitted to access the Murats Point campsite. RVs and campers, ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes are prohibited at Moses Creek Conservation Area at all times.IMPORTANT: Heavy equipment will be onsite beginning May 1, 2026, for a Florida Power & Light (FPL) project to replace overhead power lines with underground lines within the power line easement. This project will require directional boring to install the lines underground. Paddling to the Murats Point campsite during high tides may be the best option for access, as portions of the red trail will be closed during the project. Please use caution when visiting the property and always maintain a safe distance from heavy equipment; visibility from large equipment is limited and operators may be unable to see people approaching.Moses Creek is popular with kayakers who wait for high tide to explore the creek as it winds its way through tall marsh grasses. Note, there are no boat or kayak launches located on the property. Paddling and boating are available via the nearby Matanzas River.Maximum occupancy at the campsite is six people. Maximum length of stay is 7 consecutive days.Reservations are required and must be made at least 48 hours in advance and may be made up to 90 days in advance.Check in: No earlier than 1 p.m.Check out: No later than 11 a.m.Maximum occupancy: Six people and up to two pets (leashed and controlled at all times)Maximum length of stay: 7 consecutive days
