Murphy Island Conservation Area Boat-In SJRWMD

Boat-in tent-only campsiteMurphy Island is located on the St. Johns River, south of Palatka, at the juncture of the St. Johns River and Dunns Creek. The island portion of the Murphy Creek Conservation Area contains one of the few upland areas along the St. Johns River, providing visitors an opportunity for a spectacular view of the river. Reservation-only tent camping is allowed in a designated campsite on Murphy Island, which is accessible only by boat. The campsite has a fire ring, benches and picnic table. There are no restrooms. Reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance and may be made up to 90 days ahead. Murphy Island has a boat landing and more than 6 miles of hiking trails. Campers do not have exclusive use of the property during the day, as others may visit the property and use the boat dock.
